An overview of the college application process from a rising sophomore at Yale University (read: recent college app survivor) including strategies for the Common App, the ever-so-important college essays, school selection, and more! The goal of the “class” is not to provide information easily found in one of hundreds of college application guides—instead, it will be tailored towards what the students would like out of the class, whether that be personal anecdotes, Q&A sessions, or anything in between.
The class is deliberately kept small to ensure a personal experience. Students are, of course, welcome to schedule additional review sessions as needed.
Hi everyone! My name is Patrick, and I’m a rising sophomore at Yale University majoring in Economics and Energy Studies. Although New Haven is my home during the school year, I’m a proud Minnesotan from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. In high school, I was involved with a good amount of extracurriculars (read: somewhat sleep-depriving amount) including mock trial, math team, DECA, and a lawncare business - more than happy to provide mowing advice! On campus I compete in the Yale Debate Association, work in the start-up scene, lead backpacking trips, and do a bit of dancing on the side. If you would like coaching in public speaking/debate/mock trial (disclaimer: I'm only familiar with the APDA debate format), entrepreneurship, math (competition and academic), college applications, or anything in between, please feel free to reach out to me!
